The spirit of travel
Discover Népal, between cultural heritage, Himalayan landscapes and authentic encounters. Your journey begins with a guided visit to Kathmandu, followed by the discovery of Pokhara, the two main urban centers of the country. You then head to the south of the Annapurnas massif, in the Modi Khola valley, for a 6-day trek through the region's traditional villages. Along the way, you discover Gurung culture, notably through its culinary specialties and local traditions. Your hike takes you through varied landscapes, between lush forests, terraced rice fields and valleys dotted with rhododendrons. Several viewpoints also allow you to admire the emblematic summits of the Himalaya, including Annapurna I and Machhapuchhre.
Accessible to travelers who wish to avoid high altitude treks, this itinerary is an ideal first approach to hiking in Népal. It allows you to discover the landscapes of the Himalaya without reaching the high altitudes of major treks, while enjoying an immersion in the life of Nepalese villages.

Highlights
Day-by-day itinerary

Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be welcomed and accompanied by our local representative. A short car transfer will take you to your hotel, where you can settle in and enjoy some rest after your journey.
A welcome drink will then be an opportunity to present your stay program and review the documents necessary for obtaining your trekking permit.

Visit to the main sites of Kathmandu
Your day begins with a visit to the Swayambhunath stupa, also called the Monkey Temple. Perched on a hill overlooking Kathmandu and surrounded by several temples, this religious site offers a view over Nepal's capital.
You continue your exploration with Pashupatinath, one of South Asia's sacred temples, dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. On the banks of the river, you can observe Hindu cremation rituals, which are reminiscent of those practiced in Varanasi (Benares), India.
Finally, you visit the famous Boudhanath stupa, one of the region's major Buddhist sanctuaries. Surrounded by numerous monasteries and Tibetan shops, this place bears witness to the importance of Buddhist traditions in Népal.

Flight to Pokhara, trek to Birethanti
After breakfast, you are transferred to the domestic airport for a flight of approximately 30 minutes. During the journey, you enjoy views of the Manaslu mountain ranges and the Annapurnas and Pokhara, in the heart of Népal's mountainous landscapes.
Upon your arrival, you are welcomed by your local guide and meet the team that will accompany you throughout your trekking. You then head towards Nayapul, the starting point of your adventure.
A walk of approximately 30 minutes then takes you to the village of Birethanti, where you rejoin your lodge to settle in and rest.

The Discovery of the Gurkhas Village
After breakfast, you begin your hike through cultivated lands and small farms that dot the landscape. You follow the right bank of the Modi Khola river, which originates in the Annapurnas Sanctuary, heading north. Facing you stands Machhapuchhre, a sacred peak recognizable by its fish-tail shape.
The trail gradually rises out of the valley and crosses small hamlets, terraced rice paddies and forests, offering beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes.
Early in the afternoon, you reach Ghandruk, where you settle at the Himalaya Lodge. From your accommodation, you enjoy a clear view of the peaks of the Annapurnas massif.

Descent and ascent to Landruk
After a peaceful breakfast with a view of the Himalaya mountains, you leave Himalaya Lodge to begin your trek to Landruk. From the village of Ghandruk, the trail gradually descends to the banks of the Modi River. Along the way, you spot the cliffs where the famous Nepali honey hunters climb using ropes to harvest honey from the nests of large wild bees, known to be particularly dangerous.
You then cross the river via a suspension bridge, before following a trail that climbs up to the village of Landruk. Throughout your journey, you enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the Annapurna massif.
After lunch at La Bee lodge, your guide accompanies you on a visit to the village of Landruk, an opportunity to discover this mountain village and its surroundings.

Trek to Majhgaon Village
Landruk → Majhgaon
After leaving Landruk and the Modi Khola valley, you continue your hike east, then heading south. The trail crosses small traditional villages and agricultural land, offering beautiful panoramas of the Annapurnas massif.
You arrive at the Ker & Downey Gurung Lodge, near Majhgaon, in time for lunch. Designed in the style of a traditional Népal village, this accommodation features rooms offering a clear view over the valley and surrounding mountains.
The afternoon is free to enjoy the lodge gardens and relax in this peaceful setting. You can also choose to explore the neighboring villages with your guide to discover more about local life.

Dhampus
Majhgaon → Pothana
This morning, you cross the traditional village of Patlekhet, which has managed to preserve its authenticity and local character.
Your hike continues through subtropical forests, where orchids, rhododendrons and magnolias meet. This varied vegetation accompanies your progression through the heart of Népal landscapes.
Along the way, you stop at the village of Pothana, where you will have the opportunity to meet Tibetan merchants and discover their activities.

Descent to Phedi and then transfer to Pokhara
After breakfast, you continue your hike along the ridge, before beginning a gradual descent towards the valley, located at 1,000 meters altitude. The trail crosses wooded hills and terraced crops, allowing you to enjoy the natural and agricultural landscapes of this region of Népal.

Route to Bandipur and 4-hour trek to Ghamalchhap
Your day begins with a cup of tea or coffee served in your room. On clear days, enjoy your private veranda to admire the panoramas of the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I and Makalu peaks. After breakfast, you set off for a short walk to discover two local schools. You can also choose to walk to a high viewpoint to contemplate the mountains rising to the north.
Back at the lodge, you have lunch before setting off with your guide to discover the surrounding villages. During your encounters, you may have the opportunity to exchange with former Gorkha, retired Nepalese soldiers. This region, still little frequented by travelers, has managed to preserve its authentic character.
You spend a second night at Three Mountain Lodge.
A transfer to Bandipur is also mentioned in the program. This former trading town was developed by the Newars of Bhaktapur, in the Kathmandu Valley, as a strategic stopover on the trade route linking India to Tibet.
Pokhara → Ghamalchhap
After your visit, you make your way down leisurely to your lodge in Ghamalchhap, where you can settle in and enjoy the surrounding setting. In the afternoon, your guide accompanies you to discover a Gurung village, an opportunity to learn more about the traditions of this Nepalese community. You will also have the chance to attend traditional Gurung dances, for an immersion in local culture.

Return to Kathmandu
Ghamalchhap → Bandipur
After breakfast, you take the same path as the day before to reach Bandipur, enjoying once again the landscapes that dot your journey.

This visa can be obtained in two ways:
On arrival (visa on arrival): available at the main entry points, notably Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and certain land border crossings. It is strongly recommended to complete the application form online before departure to facilitate procedures on site.
Online before departure: via the official online visa system of the Nepalese government (online visa application), allowing you to obtain prior authorization to present upon arrival.

30 days: 50 USD
90 days: 125 USD
Payment is generally made in cash (USD, EUR, or other accepted currencies) or by credit card depending on the entry points. It is advisable to have US dollars in cash for payment on site.

an exit ticket from the territory (return flight or onward journey),
proof of sufficient financial resources for the duration of your stay.

Before your arrival, it is recommended to complete the online arrival form available on the official portal of the Nepalese government. This form allows you to provide immigration authorities with:
passport information
flight details
the address of your first accommodation in Nepal
A digital confirmation or a reference code may be requested when passing through immigration or at the visa issuance counter upon arrival.
Special permits for trekking areas
Certain regions of Nepal require additional permits in addition to the tourist visa:
the TIMS (Trekkers' Information Management System): mandatory for most trekking itineraries,
national park or conservation area permits (e.g., Sagarmatha for Everest, Annapurna Conservation Area),
restricted zone permits for certain specific destinations such as Mustang, Dolpo, or Manaslu.
These permits are generally obtained in Kathmandu or Pokhara from the relevant offices.
Health and vaccinations
No vaccine is mandatory to enter Nepal, except in case of arrival from a country at risk of yellow fever. However, several vaccinations are strongly recommended by health authorities:
hepatitis A and B,
typhoid,
diphtheria-tetanus-poliomyelitis (DTP),
rabies (especially for extended stays or in remote areas),
Japanese encephalitis (depending on areas and season).
Preventive antimalarial treatment may be recommended for certain low-altitude regions (Terai). It is advisable to consult a doctor or international vaccination center at least four to six weeks before departure.
