Getting your visa

A visa is required to enter Népal, but it is very straightforward to obtain. You can get it in France or directly upon arrival in the country. In France, you must contact the Népal Consulate (http://www.consulat-nepal.org) or reach out to them directly:
  • in Paris: 45 bis rue des Acacias, 75017 Paris, phone 01 46 22 48 67
  • In Mont-Saint-Aignan (76): 02 Rue Victor Morin, 76130 Mont Saint Aignan, phone 02 35 07 18 12
It is also possible to obtain a tourist visa upon arrival in Kathmandu. You will need to provide a photograph, but if you don't have one, automatic booths on site can take one for you, though this means a longer wait. Be aware of frequent power outages that could prevent their use. The visa price depends on the length of your stay:
  • 1 to 15 days: 25 USD
  • 16 to 30 days: 40 USD
  • 31 to 90 days: 100 USD
You must have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of application. The price is set in Nepalese Rupees and US Dollars, but payment is also accepted in most major currencies at the current exchange rate. The tourist visa does not authorize work, even on a voluntary basis, but allows multiple entries. It is possible to benefit from a visa extension of 30 USD for 15 additional days, 50 USD for 30 additional days, and 2 USD per day, up to a total of 150 days per year.

Visa for Tibet and Bhutan

If you wish to add a stay in Tibet or Bhutan to your Népal itinerary, Bluesheep will handle all formalities. The price is:
  • 40 USD for Bhutan (to be added to mandatory daily expenses),
  • 114 USD for Tibet.

Trekking permits

Népal requires entrance fees for most of the country's national parks, covering maintenance, environmental conservation, and so on. Outside of special permits, fees will always be included in registration charges.
  • The TIMS (Trekkers' Information Management System) is the basic trekking authorization, registering you in a crucial registry in case of natural disaster. It costs 10 USD.
  • The ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Permit), the Annapurna park authorization, costs 20 USD.
  • Entry to Sagarmatha National Park (on the slopes of Everest) costs 35 USD.
  • Certain independent regions like upper Dolpo and Mustang require a special permit at 500 USD for the first 10 days, then 50 USD per additional day.
