When to Go?

To trek in the Annapurna and Khumbu regions, the best seasons are from late September to late November and from early March to late April. 

The Mustang trek is also possible during July and August. The region is the only one to benefit from very fine weather during this period while the rest of Nepal is affected by the monsoon.

Yes, Mustang is a restricted area of Nepal that requires a special permit (Restricted Area Permit) in addition to TIMS and ACAP permits. This permit is limited and costs more than other regions, so it is advisable to plan ahead.

The best seasons for hiking in the Annapurna and Khumbu regions are from late September to late November (autumn) and from early March to late April (spring). The Mustang trek is an exception: it is also possible in July and August, as the region is protected from the monsoon.
