Description

Kunde village is part of the Khumjung Village Committee, located within the Sagarmatha National Park. The villages of Khumjung and Kunde nestle near the sacred mountain Khumbi Lah, in the Khumbu region.

Both villages sit in a valley at an altitude between 3,800 m and 4,000 m, just a few kilometers from Mount Everest.

The village already enjoys access to modern communication infrastructure, including landlines and mobile networks. Kunde also boasts a well-equipped Western hospital, founded by Sir Edmund Hillary in 1966, which brings the village its renown.

Upon arriving in Kunde, you'll be rewarded with stunning views of Khumbila mountain rising above both villages. You'll also have the opportunity to admire the peaks of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam.

Kunde Hospital:

Kunde Hospital was established with funds raised by Sir Edmund Hillary. Since its creation, the hospital has rendered invaluable service to the Sherpa population through quality medical care and pharmaceuticals. Today, it is financed by the Himalayan Trust association.

Thanks to this facility, villages in the Everest region are gradually developing and becoming sought-after and safer tourist destinations.

By air:

To reach Kunde village, you must first fly to Lukla from the capital. From there, continue your journey on a 3 to 5-hour trek passing through Phakding and Namche Bazaar before arriving in Kunde.

By bus:

It's possible to reach Namche Bazaar by taking a bus from Kathmandu to Jiri, then from Jiri to Namche Bazaar. The journey takes approximately 13 hours. From there, allow about an hour's walk to reach Khunde.
