Dhulikhel was historically known by its Buddhist name, "Shrikhandapur." This quintessential Newar village sits to the east of the Banepa valley, near Tamang settlements, 30 km from Kathmandu. It is renowned for its commanding views of snow-capped Himalayan peaks and the extraordinary sunrises and sunsets behind the ridges of Langtang and Everest. Several stupas are interspersed among Hindu temples dedicated to Bhairava, Siddhi, Shivi, Narayana, and others.
